Look Around Tacoma

We’re building a visual console for what’s happening in Tacoma — from Ruston Way sunsets and Stadium District coffee, to Dome District shows, Hilltop food, 6th Ave nightlife, and the policies shaping life around the Sound.

What’s coming

  • Neighborhood reels: Stadium → Hilltop → 6th Ave → Proctor.
  • Waterfront runs: Ruston Way, Point Ruston, Foss Waterway, the Port.
  • Venue & food features: chefs, bar programs, pop-ups, late-night spots.
  • Transit + tourist shortcuts: light rail, ferry links, “one-day in Tacoma” routes.
  • Policy explainers: new city + county moves in plain language and who they affect.
  • Spotlight interviews: local creators, organizers, venue owners, and city voices.

Live ops run inside our private command center; this public page shows top-line signals, roadmap, and contact.

Signals (rolling 9 days)

  • Views — launching soon.
  • Reach — Tacoma, Pierce County, and visiting tourists.
  • Likes / Comments / Shares — weekly recaps on this page.

Weekly stats will be posted here; full analytics and routing logic live in our internal dashboards.

AI & Platform Stack (current & planned)

  • ChatGPT: trims, headlines, Q&A, and fast summaries of long interviews.
  • Azure: App Service (hosting today) + Azure OpenAI for orchestration; Front Door later for global entry/TLS.
  • AWS: CloudFront edge caching; optional Elemental MediaConvert for adaptive-bitrate reels.
  • Google Cloud: Vertex AI (vision/NLP) + BigQuery for cross-city trend lines.

Multi-cloud on purpose: we care about latency, resilience, and keeping Tacoma stories online when they matter.

Roadmap highlights

  • Venue + festival directory with live status and “is it actually busy?” pings.
  • Neighborhood pages: maps, clips, and “one-pager” quick reads for each district.
  • Creator program + submission portal for Tacoma storytellers.
  • Weekly “what changed in city policy” brief in human language.

This placeholder stays minimal. The real work happens in our command center as we build out the full Tacoma console.
